What, you've been waiting all this time?

(I didn't figure there was much interest, all in all.)

Here is something you may be interested in.

And/or this.

Maybe (but probably not) this.

Ive also heard rumors of a sci-lang newsgroup on Usenet, but Ive not looked for it yet.

Thank you, thank you.

I've been meaning to join the Elgin newsletter but haven't gotten 'round to it yet. I did join the Conlang mailing list and have registered at some conlang wikis here and there. (The mailing list is REALLY active. I rarely get through all the messages.)

The "FH language and linguistics" page is a mirror of the WP article by the same title.

(And I take the subtle hint. ;) )

No subtle hints. Just a "gee-whiz, Mr. Wilson!"

What's the URL code for an apostrophe again? I want to fix that fucking link.

Posted: Thu Aug 21, 2008 11:35 pm
by SandChigger
It's

Code: Select all

%27 (percent-sign-2-7)
Here's the fixed link:

I think I have a flair for languages.

I just reread your post. I thought you said that he had a flair for languages and I didn't know what that meant. But that is not what you said. You said he had flair. Sorry.

Owh. OK. :D

Nope. Was just teasing him (again).

I mean, how could someone be FABULOUS 24/7/52 and NOT have flair. :D

 I'd only give myself a 6 on the fab scale, I just can't bring myself to camp it up.

A six, huh?

So how does that translate temporally?

Are you fabulous 14:24 hours each day? Or 4.2 days each week? Or 31.2 weeks per year, perhaps?

How does that work, exactly?

:P

It's not an exact science, it's more like a continuum, with your position varying on any given day.

Fabulous answer!

Righto...

Thing isn't dead yet (meaning this thing, not the Canadian Guy With The Long Username Commonly Known As Thang); I've been plunking along with it now and then, and I've added a new subdomain on my website for some stuff later, but I'm kinda wondering what to do with it.

Spent a goodly portion of yesterday taking stock, and I'm not happy; doesn't have an organic feel to it, wondering about chucking it all and starting over. :(

Is anyone else more than mildly interested?

Still am interested for sure, but waiting for some direction from you. I even started reading Aliens and Linguistics to help.

Okee-dokee. I'll try to organize some "food for thought" tomorrow and over the weekend. ;)

A Roma character in Tim Powers' Anubis Gates spoke this way. Is this some pig-latin type of thing?

Hain't read that, but I think I remember you reviewing or at least talking about it before.

Pig-Latin?! How RUDE.

Nah, that's just a wee taste of Solstic (or Soltok or Sysspeak or whatever you will—they won't call it Proto-Galach for a LONG time ;) ), which is still evolving and trying to find a happy orthography....

Any idears? ;)

That's like reading a Pansyass post. All that's missing is twenty pictures of Che in frilly knickers.
