This kind of thing happens quite a bit, where one book cover is re-used on other volumes. I have two different Robert Silverberg books (Book of Skulls, in Gollancz/Millenium's Masterpieces of SF series and a volume of short stories by Subterranean Press) that use the same cover. I have also seen the newest cover for Nancy Kress' Beggars in Spain used on a different Heinlein book, and IIRC another book by Barry Maltzberg.
I think this is confusing when they use covers from popular books, don't you?
