Here is a link to a NPR broadcast about the book, with some interviews:

Im putting this here hoping that you all click on the link. The more we click on the link, the more likely NPR is to do broadcasts about SF, as they track these sorts of things.

Thanks for posting that Omphalos I hadn't heard of Paulo Bacigalupi, his work and themes sound interesting.
Look, I'm not much good at big speeches, and I know I haven't always been an easy guy to get on with, and I know, that given the choice, I wouldn't have chosen you as friends, but I just want to say, that over the years, I have come to regard you as people I met.

The People of Sand and Slag was an incredible story. That is what the fuss is about. The Calorie Man sucked, IMHO, but just about everyone else loved it. But hte point here is to click on this to get NPR to do more stories on SF books and authors. They are on the cusp now of goig whole hog, and I would love it if they went all the way.tanzeelat wrote:I've read a couple of his stories, and I can't see what all the fuss is about. 'People of Sand and Slag' just struck me as depressing and not very well written. And 'The Fluted Girl' has been done before, and better - Eric Brown's 'The Death of Cassandra Quebec'.
