You should look at Doctorow's website. If you found stuff that you would use in the class room there, you will find much, much more there. Doctorow has a huge online presence, and is outspoken on a several issues, including the free use of copyrighted material with a special set of rules to help wit...

I suspect the American meaning is the original, and the British one has changed. British English has altered more since Elizabethan times than US English. Anyone else remember a cartoon series about Thor, doing a kind of Superman/Clark Kent thang (IIRC) in the modern world? Can't remember the title, but I remember watching it as a kid. Thor had a human alter-ego in the Marvel comic. Maybe it was based on that? I don't remember a cartoon program though.

Kids say the funniest shit
I was playing with my kids this evening, wrestling and tickling and stuff. I thought my boy left the room for a second, and my daughter and I kept going on. She smacked me in the lip and tooth with her head and I yelled "OW!" The girl ran laughing at me, and I said "What is wrong with...

What, fighting games? I liked them as a kid but got bored of them quickly. No. Games where the point is to show virtual humiliation like that. I have a problem with games where collecting the badges of dead cops is the point too. Now, give me a good zombie whacking game and I'm there. But not that ...

I do actually know alot about mythology- that's why I chose that persona. So I'm still going to write all that stuff. The scar thing was one thing I don't believe I was lying about though. I have many, many injuries from playing Judo, and martial arts in general. That, and being clumsy :P Really? :...

Obama
Found this in my inbox today, and it looks like its getting around quickly. Interesting..... Nor is it about Obama, though my personal opinion of him will probably be obv...

The Last of the Winnebagos, by Connie Willis
http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/0553564366.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg Connie Willis is not one of my favorite authors, but I usually either love or hate her work. I have not really read much: A few stories, a few novellas, and To Say Nothing of the Dog, which I hated. This book started out as one that I ...

New Dune Movie
The new Dune movie's producers are in negotiations with a writer , and it does not look good. Who the fuck is this guy ? Other than the one thing listed on his profile, he has a pending credit writing on something called The Infiltrator , and did some "production work," (apparently without...

Seven Suns
I found this review on another SF site and wanted to comment on it here (as I did there). About Seven Suns, someone said: I would not like to give away much of the plot, but it is a series, all interconnected, so not just individual novels set in the same 'universe'. The whole story is told in 7 boo...
