Shameless Commerce Thread

Hi all,

I've been cleaning my house out and have a few things of interest to board members. If these things don't sell here, they are going to eBay.

Right now I have two Easton Press books. One is Dune, without the info card, and the other is Stranger in a Strange Land. Dune is in pretty damn good shape and has the unpaid bookplate. $40. Stranger has the unpaid plate and the info sheet, but is slightly banged up and some of the gold gilt has rubbed off. Very nice looking though. $30. Neither are shrink wrapped.

Both are about $80 or so new from Easton, IIRC. Anybody wants, let me know.

I would have been interested in that Easton Dune, but I just won the SFBC limited Leather edition on ebay and that will have to be enough for a while. It's a good price though..

Oops! Forgot to do this last night. Ill send myself a note so I do it tonight.

If anyone is interested, please let me know soon. I am going to sell about 60 Eastons at a book sale at our local Scotish Rite temple this weekend. Not saying you have to agree to buy it, but if you are interested I will gladly hold it back from the sale while you think about it. Even if you decide not to take it, Dune is one of those Eastons I can sell no problem anytime I want, so I'm not concerned if I hold it back from the sale.

I don't think so, but I cannot see the spine of that one pictured. I think the one I am keeping is the anniversary edition. The one I am selling is from teh masterpieces of SF line, which has a more ornately gilded spine. Ill post pics later tonight.

I will make you feel better by showing greater ignorance. :)=

I second your question, and add 'what is significant about an Easton Press information card?'

Easton Press always includes a hardstock card insert with each of their books. It's printed on both sides and contains, usually, some information about the author, the artist who is most famous for work associated with the book, and the story itself. For this copy of Dune I actually do have one (I think), but it's in terrible condition. Unlike the book, which is damn near mint.

A book plate is one of those "Ex Libris" stickers that some people stick in their books. You can write or print your name on them to identify books that you own. Personally I hate them and never use them. Easton included a sticky one with each of their books. I still have it, but it's never been stuck into this book, and is thus "unlaid" (kind of like Thing, up until last weekend or so) :P .

$40 will do, mon bon ami. I am sure I have misplaced your address, so PM it to me and Ill send it to you. Once I have the price to ship I will let you know and you can pay however you wish. Let me know how you want it (ground, air, 2d day, next day, etc), and if you want me to insure it. Ground will take forever, so I imagine air?

I will ask that you pay whatever the fee is, if you use PayPal. OK? (I have not done this in years, and I'm not even sure if there is a fee for this sort of thing).

I know that international airmail is more expensive due to the costs involved in transporting packages via aircraft, but I can't wait for months ^^ No insurance.

When Gravity Fails is at the book sale. I'll go by in a few hours and if it's still there, pull it out.

But I goofed. It The Exile Kiss that is signed. And I did pull that one from the sale, thinking I could get more on eBay.

Here is Stranger in a Strange Land, Eyes. I would like $30 for it. I am asking $40 for all of the others, but this one has a few (largely unnoticable) flaws, so....discount. Please tell Spiff that if he wants a bunch, he gets a great deal on price. I know I have a bunch of things that are right up his alley, too (though some may sell today).

I don't have anything else I want to sell now.

I have seen a photo of the Heritage Press edition of Dune on Amazon. Just a little tiny thumbnail, and I have been searching for it since. Have not found it yet.

Omph, that's interesting, I haven't seen this either. Those international collector's library books are of a lower quality though, typically faux leather and cheaper paper. But this one is probably quite rare.

That Amazon listing is the only place I have ever seen it. Not in a library, collection, or even on a bibliography.

I see a highly rated seller has one for $55. Not for me, but somebody here I'm sure will jump.
