Upcoming SF Movies

Post by Omphalos »

Check this list out! Looks like a lot of movie studios are mining pulp stories, and older SF movies.

I had no idea John Carter was in development. Or Cell, by Stephen King. I loved that book. Too bad it will probably suck as bad as all the others. Did anyone see The Mist yet? I wonder if that one sucked.
Something is about to happen, Hal. Something wonderful!

John Carter has been in and out of pre-production for years. It was originally going to be a Kerry Conran project.

They're remaking Barbarella? Nooooooo! And Clash of the Titans? WTF.

What is wrong with Hollywood? Not content with remaking perfectly good old films, they now have to remake shit old films that were better left forgotten. There's plenty of original material available - you know, in those strange slightly old-fashioned objects known as books, they have words and stuff in them, you might have to use your imagination a bit...

I've been seeing commercials for Ironman today, looks like it might be good.

iron man is coming courtesy of john favreau, which means if flicks like zathura and swingers dont rub you offensively, then you might just enjoy iron man. im hopeful.

though i was also hopeful for i am legend, which for the most part sucked ass.

anything (IMO) by pixar is golden, so i am already in love with john carter on the big screen, but the rest of the stuff on this list makes me want to stay in bed with a healthy sized bong, a copy of the 1980 flash gordon, and some old don bluth cartoons (ms brisby, im looking at you).

the grays might be somewhat interesting, though the terrible job someone did on communion (how did they talk christopher waulken into that?) makes me leary.

oh well. none of it will be as bad as the day the earth stood still. wonder why that turd from a future age didnt make the list.

My kids LOVE Zathura, they watch it over and over and over...

It sucked a little less than Stephen King movies usually do. In other words, it was watchable, but nothing memorable.
-> LIONSGATE
The Spirit (Frank Miller)
There is no surer sign of cinematic worthlessness than the words "Lions Gate." It's like the Seal of Suckiness.

Just a little heads-up: saying something "sucked ass" no longer really means much with this crowd. You gotta QUALIFY, my friend!

Was it SOILED ass? :D

I'm seeing Iron Man, so far it has kept my interest.

I wouldn't mind John Carter or Barbarella, I love the Barbarella concept and would love a decent movie made of it.

Interesting.

(Did the movie play right for you? Loaded 15 secs and then went wonky. Will try again later.)
