Dune and Dune Messiah in Farsi

      Post by Kwisatz »

Few days ago my friend from Iran told me that in spite of all the efforts (his and the publisher) the authorities didn't agree to publish his translation of Dune in that country.
He was kind enough to let me print one copy for my collection.
Dune has 727 pages, Dune Messiah - 274 pages.

As far as I know it's the first translation to Arabic of any work of FH. It's like having Dune in Fremen alphabet ;)

So here you can see my copy of Dune Messiah in custom binding:

That's really cool, thanks for sharing!
In short, the Jihad is over. It ended just as SandRider predicted it would, not with a bang or even a whimper, by simple attrition.

      Very cool!

(You say "the first translation to Arabic", but I thought this was Farsi rather than Arabic?)

      Yeah, semantics :)
It's not published yet, so no official translation exists for us to buy.

Farsi language is written with the Arabic script.

❒ A beginning is the time for taking the most delicate care that the balances are correct. This every sister of the Bene Gesserit knows. To begin your study of the life of Muad'Dib, then, take care that you first place him in his time: born in the 57th year of the Padishah Emperor, Shaddam IV. And take the most special care that you locate Muad'Dib in his place: the planet Arrakis. Do not be deceived by the fact that he was born on Caladan and lived his first fifteen years there. Arrakis, the planet known as Dune, is forever his place.

Even in Farsi Paul was born on Caladan.
