In this thread you can find lots of photos from Polish exhibitions of Dune drawings by W. Siudmak in museums and galleries around the country.

There are also my several original costumes from miniseries accompanying those drawings and Dune editions from around the world.

I cooperate with Mr Siudmak in Dune matters and coordinate those exhibitions. If you like this kind of art I could order an art print on canvas or litograph or poster for you. If you have a question regarding Mr Siudmak, please ask, I'll try to answer it or ask him directly.

First exhibition where our cooperation have started - Teutonic castle in Nidzica in 2008:

There will be 2 big exhibitions this year.
First one in Polish National Museum in Kielce - in 3 branches at the same time. One of these branches wil host Dune exhibition. Apart from numerous drawings and paintings there will be also 9 costumes and 140 book editions from my collection. This exhibition will start on 26th of April till the end of September.

Polish announcement: http://mnki.pl/pl/wystawy/zapowiedzi/ni ... echswiaty/

Second one will be in Museum Utrillo-Valadon, Place du Général Leclerc, 95110 Sannois, France. It will start on 7th of October, 10.00 AM, directly after Polish exhibition and it'll end with the end of the year. Mr Siudmak should be on the openings of both exhibitions. There will be 4 of my costumes on French exhibition, but no books.

well, these will be nice exhibits for sure.
Kielce is certainly not at the next door, the one in Paris is closer.
though I could not find any official information on the city website or parisian museum website yet - maybe to come.

I'm gonna try to organize a trip to that Paris one, October is far enough to get cheap eurostar tickets.
We'll see if I can convince my wife that we really need to go :)

I want my signed copy of Dune ^^

Thanks Kwisatz !

French Dune exhibition is a must ;) There will be only 1 this year and I don't know anything about next year.

Thanks for that (as I told you I lived briefly in Varsaw a few years ago, and I remember even Polish people telling me they had trouble learning their own language... and for us all these consonants that really are vowels... well it puzzling ^^)

And indeed, it seems like quite some event, I must put this on my to do list !

Be sure to post more info on that :)

3/4 - wow! What number is it approximately?
I saw a whole wall of books in sci-fi section in Paris and I think 1/3 of them were with his covers. Also there is a site with most of his covers and I counted over 1000!
As of costs - I was lucky to get cheap flight at Wizzair on their 8th anniversary and it's cost was around $65 both ways Poland<->France.

My plan is to get as much books as I can carry in my luggage ;) Last time I've bought 35.

I'm not sure about the numbers, I kinda said that offhand, but that's the feeling.
I started collecting in the early 80s, I've got quite a few oldies :)

I remember Wizzair ! I flew with them when I came back from my 2 months in Varsaw, the airport looked like an old train station and people were queuing up to the roundabout, it was epic !

There are new details about vernisage. On Sunday 7th at 10 AM there will be grand opening for the public, but I doubt that Mr Siudmak will be there. Current vernisage will be on Saturday 6th at 6 PM (666, lol) with invitations only. I'll ask them about those invitations, but there should be no problem for let's say 5 people. So if any of you would like to attend on Saturday, PM me first and tell me your address, so I could arrange some invitations.

Opening of the exhibition was great success - 616 guests appeared. Some of honorable ones were - Polish Ambassador in France, Mayor, Governor, painters, musicians, movie directors, Francis Lai (Oscar winner for 'Love Story' music).

Exhibition is very well organized. It's not the big one as previous in Poland, but paintings are so well lighted and set in color patterns - so the colors are vibrant and you have almost a 3D effect while watching them. I was impressed by the effect they created. The best experience from our exhibitions so far ;)
All costumes except of Stilgar's stillsuit are from my collection. All items in glass case, except Atreides document and this stilluit are from David's collection - who was main initiator and also coordinated this exhibition. His mother Nicole was responsible for whole exhibition and arrangements. Sculptures were made by Angelika - who is visible on lots of photos ;)

Mr Siudmak will be also present at various days during the exhibition. So if any of you'd like to shake his hand, take an autograph or exchange few words (French and Polish - only option, without translator), feel free to come to Sannois ;)
Below you have the dates of various events:

This exhibition will be opened till the late December, but there are rumors about another exhibition in this area, cause Mayor is interested in this event after success of current one. There is also another interesting exhibition in Louvre right now - for Star Wars fans. There is one or two Siudmak's paintings there.

Glad to hear that it's so popular!

I still won't make it though.. San Francisco, Sweden, Poland, Germany and possibly Norway within one month is enough.

When you put these things on, do you have a feel for how many of these people show up because they are interested in the art vs. how many of them are there because of the Dune connection? Just wondering who is there for what reason. Thanks.

I spoke with some of them on various exhibitions - seen 10 Dune exhibits so far. They are mostly there because of Siudmak. He's really famous. But around 30-40% did read Dune and could discuss about relations between drawings and text.

New photos and 2 short movies. 1st one is a bit too fast, but I had a little time before opening.
