40's Club

I just turned the big 4-0. This is not fun. Everyone keeps saying that your forties are the new thirties. I don't ever remember anyone saying that the idea of turning 30 sucked this much. I woke up this morning and my hips hurt, my back ached, and my knee was twinging. My doctor's service left a message reminding me to get some blood work done yesterday, and that reminded me that he keeps threatening to make love to me with a camera. And holy shit my kids have twelve years before they even begin college. Will this ever end?

I guess having young kids keeps you young...i have a three year old and another one (my boy!) coming at the beginning of november : I have no time to feel old...

My friends at work all welcomed me into the "protected class" of workers who cannot be fired for ageism. Lucky me.

Sounds good to me! I can sit in KJA's chair and fart. When is the next time you swing by the SacredTomato?

A-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Wait a minute. I calculated you at 42 the other day, Omph, when we were talking about that Prince song. Guess one of us was off. :P

I was talking to a friend of mine the other night and moaning about getting old and she told me, in all seriousness, that 50 is the new 40. I kinda like that. (She crossed the border herself a few years back.)

40 was nothing, really. (AFAIR!) I remember 30 as being far more traumatic. As I sneak up on 50, I've noticed myself engaging in thought patterns that might be a kind of coping mechanism: even though I still have over two and a half years left before I get there, I'm already starting to THINK of myself as 50. By the time it becomes a reality, I'll be used to it. ;)

I don't mind growing old...at least not so much so far. Being able to do less than before is somewhat annoying, but it's also freeing in some ways. It also feels in a strange way like coming home.... ;)

It was surely me. Didn't I say how old I was when I heard it? Something like that. I was in high school, IIRC. I started that in '82 when I was..mmmmmmmm. 14? Yep. A month before I turned 15. I don't remember that album coming out when I was in Jr. High.

EDIT: Oops! Nope. I was 13 when I entered H.S. I must have been 14 right after that school year started, and that's when I heard it. Sorry!

Man, I have really not been paying attention to much lately! I gotta get back into my groove.

I'm definitely not in this club, but happy(? :? ) birthday Omph!

My 40th was in August. It was nothing compared to my 33rd birthday, I don't know why 33 bothered me, but probably because I was high when I was 30.

Guys are lucky, try adding pre-menopause (it can last 5 or 6 fucking years!) to the list of aches and pains, lol.

Happy birthday Omph! :P

We should dress up like 'em (pick up our custumes down the street at the gag shop  ) and act like total assholes so they're not welcome there anymore :D

A high school cheerleader came to my door yesterday afternoon selling tickets to a cheeleader car wash... and I didn't have any cash!

I thought I was going to have a stroke. She was SO hot!

God, you're all so old.

Speaking of old, can you believe FANTOMAS is 49! He acts like Sloe Man used to do when he was 12.

Nah, I figured ole FantaPops was up there.

Drives a truck for a living, too, no?

(Not that there's anything wrong with that. My uncle made a pretty good living at it, still does as a matter of fact, owns his own trucking company and is still going strong at 70. THAT, CL, is old. ;) )

I did not know that he did that. But even if I had, it would not have changed my mind much. Ive handled hundreds of long and short haul trucking cases with youts at the wheel, 18 and up.

You must have had kids young. I think you have a boy who is a volunteer fireman? I'm still wiping my boy's nose.

Good memory. Yeah too young. I have three boys. 21, 16, and 11. It's the 21 year old that just made Lieutenant at the local Volunteer Department.

Hey, Eyes High! I somehow completely overlooked where you wrote your birthmonth is June above. It's mine, too. :D

Which are you, Gemini or Cancer? (I'm the former. ;) )

I'm a Cancer, along with my two oldest sons; however, my youngest son is a Gemini.
