Quite possibly the most brilliant Sci Fi/Fantasy blend, and the most involving story I have read in a long time. I would say its on par with ASoIaF.

Anyone else read it?

Never read a word by this guy. As much as I love books, I hate to pick up a 1000+ page book by a guy I have never heard of before. The first Williams book I ever saw was Otherland, and I just said "forget that!" Since they never really got any shorter, I never picked one up at all.

Thou shalt read it!

Actually, you could just pick up the Legends Anthology with him in it. Its a two volume anthology though, so make sure you get the right half :P

I liked Otherland, a bit long for me though, and I like em the longer the better. I'm having trouble remembering the fantasy element though? I guess he did use the whole virtual reality thing as a setting for a fantasy-like story.

I have a deep deep love for his Memory, Sorrow and Thorn books though. Probably my favorite fantasy novels. I've been reading them over and over for the last eleven or so years.

I'm reading his new series right now, little bit on the fairy-tale side of things for my tastes, and the parrallels between the Shadow series and M,SaT are killing me. Was it really necessary to have a one handed depressed prince in both? New prince has both hands, just one arm is shrivled from an accident.
