I admit a fond weakness for this type of early material. Have you read the Lensman books or Jack Williamson's Legion of Space series?

Lensmen, yes. Im going to get to them soon. But I have read very little Williamson. Most of what I have read is from very late in his career.

Pick up a copy of his The Humanoids, robot empire out to eradicate humans, it still holds up today I think.

That one is in the pile, actually. I just bought it a few days ago, and had forgotten about it until you mentioned it.

has a anyone read all the books in this series, or more than this one at least? Ive read a few, and dont think that they are as good, but most of the ones I have read are from much later. Im wondering how good the immediate four or five successors to this one are?

Omph, I've read a slew of the John Carter books a looooong time ago, and I
remember being pretty entertained but thinking they were still pretty cheesy.
Wish I could remember more but I can't. I know that in other books he
encounters "white" Martians and "black" Martians.

Ive heard that in some of the middle books Burroughs introduces some tech that is pretty prophetic. That kind of interests me, but the belief that they get really cheesy kind of puts me off.

Decisions, decisions!

I have the first three books bundled in one volume, not too bad, a wee bit more cheese than one finds in the first volume, I haven't read more than those yet.

eh. Maybe not. Or maybe some other day. There is just so much more rewarding stuff to read out there.

They are fast reads, though. How many poops a day for you Omph? I'm
sure you could squeeze out at least one John Carter book a day. ;)

So its good dump-fodder, huh? I shall acquire and suitably place the books in the crappatorium! I imagine there is nothing quite a satisfying as reading about hot, egg-laying Martian chicks while squeezing out an obscene one, right?

Most definitely. I don't like to unnecessarily burden my pooping experience
with heavy or dense reading material. Something gets lost in the process.

I did read most of mine on the bathroom, they do lighten the situation at times.

I must disagree. I am a big ERB fan and while his books may not be exactly Dunesque type literature They are damn fun to read if a bit dated. They deserve better than the 'Terlet libary' get a series called the bathroom reader.

Just how long does it take you to poop anyway?

Well, it would take a couple of dumps, but c'mon, Spiff. You know I read fast!

Since I've been medicatin' for da pressure I seem to get blocked up a lot more often. I probably been constirpated more this last year than I was in any of the previous twenty.

The screams and talkin' to Jayzus tend to ruin the reading experience, y'know? ;)
