The Fisher

Postby Omphalos » Tue Jan 26, 2010 11:55 pm

A Fisher once took his bagpipes to the bank of a river, and played upon them with the hope of making the fish rise; but never a one put his nose out of the water. So he cast his net into the river and soon drew it forth filled with fish. Then he took his bagpipes again, and, as he played, the fish leapt up in the net. "Ah, you dance now when I play," said he.

"Yes," said an old Fish.

You had better dance when the man who has you by the short-and-curlies tells you to dance.
Something is about to happen, Hal. Something wonderful!

That sounds about right.
Look, I'm not much good at big speeches, and I know I haven't always been an easy guy to get on with, and I know, that given the choice, I wouldn't have chosen you as friends, but I just want to say, that over the years, I have come to regard you as people I met.

Hmmm...

What's the source of this one, Omph? I don't generally associate the pipes with Aesop....

I read this when you posted it end of last month ... but nothing suitably pithy (fisky?) occurred to me. :(
"Chancho...sometimes when you are a man...you wear stretchy pants...in your room...alone."

"Politics is never simple, like the sand chigger of Arrakis, one is rarely truly free of its bite."

Arrakeen is an unawakened ghola.

This one came off a web site. I have the URL at home, so Ill post it when I get there later.

This is not the site I usually use, but it has the same language and credits it to Aesop.

Here's another. I'm certain the one I used has translation data, so we can check later tonight.

Really good point, though. Good catch.

It must be said that Stavros's bladder was larger than most.
