Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell are both still on my to-do list. But Ive heard enough about Cowboy Bebop around here and elsewhere that I though this might be appreciated.

Can someone tell me if this is bad news or not? It usually is.

I think of all these many new anime-as-live-action adaptations, Cowboy Bebop is likely the best choice. I remain totally jaded and skeptical of course, but I'm really shocked anime such as Akira and Neon Genesis Evangelion are being bounced around live action development circles before something like Bebop. Cowboy Bebop basically is a western-styled show, in a large number of ways. From the film noir story and tragic characters to the 70's style pop references. Hell, I've got more than a few friends interested in anime through Bebop when nothing else worked.

If any anime in the last 10 years has had strong cross over potential, it's undoubtedly Cowboy Bebop.

I'd just want them to work the characterisations correctly, something even the dub didn't do all that well (though CB's dub is one of the rare decent dubs out there). They also better keep the jazz/beatnik score and style. It better be as future-retro as the original was, otherwise what's the point in calling it Bebop?
