Alien

It's great and disgusting, especially where it bursts out of people's stomachs.

I endorse this completely random thread about a movie I love :)

I usually dont go in for SF/horror cross-overs, but this one was great. But I personally liked the scene where they were rewiring Ash's decapitated head to tell them what was going on.
Something is about to happen, Hal. Something wonderful!

Whoah, shades of sloey there for a moment

Awesome film, I love the feel and look and the whole buildup.

Maybe Sloey should come along to this site?

Alien is a sci-fi film, isn't it? Although I think Aliens is even better than Alien, the films went downhill fast after that

I don't know, I liked the third one, especially the end, where Ripley does her swan-song "Oops, I just birthed a chestpopper!" dive into the furnace. :D

(Loved the actors' accents in that one, too. What can I say, irredeemable Anglophile! ;) )

The only good thing about the fourth one was when the alien gets sucked out the hole in the window. Yummy! :D

The setting is sci-fi but once the action starts it's just a horror movie, isn't it?

I agree, I liked Aliens better. Whenever someone asks if there are any questions, I can't help but say, "Yeah, I got a question. How do I get out of this chicken shit outfit?".

I've only seen the first one.

For a science fiction movie, it lacked depth or any real plot. For a horror movie, it was too easy to sleep through.

Not that I don't like the concept of aliens that pop out of people's chests that have acidic blood, but meh. Just wasn't that entertaining to me.

It made me bite my fingernails down. But I was only about 11 or 12 when I first saw it.

Maybe Kevin Anderson will write a trilogy - Aliens of Dune, with the Bene Gesserit infected with aliens bursting out of their stomachs. Come to think of it, that should have been the ancient enemy the Honoured Matres were running away from.
