Carriers

Post by Omphalos »

Since I got my new iPad I've pretty much watched a new SF film every day after work. Last night I saw something called Carriers, with Chris Pine. It was a lot better than I was expecting it to be. It was the story of two brothers and their girlfriends trying to survive in a post-plague world. If you have not seen it, its very much worth the time.

I noticed that on Netflix a while back, but passed because it looked like just another generic movie cashing in on the popularity of the post-apocalyptic genre.

But if you liked it, I'll take a look.

Just got done..... wow, that's a morbid little flick, isn't it? A real downer. Not bad though.

I really like it when they hit you in the heart like that. So much genre stuff is about happy - or at least neat - endings. An unexpected gem of a story, no?

It was nice seeing the guy from Law & Order SVU on there. I think he'd do better as a movie actor than being stuck in that single TV role.

It seemed to me the movie borrowed something of the bleak mood of The Road. And in both, the protagonists ended up at the coast.... hmmmm.

Did you ever watch Oz, that old HBO prison drama? That actor was in that show too, and did a fantastic job.

Never got past ten minutes of that. I generally don't like Monsieur Dep.
