Ah ... one movie of which I already know I'm not going to watch it.

I just wonder how you can base a whole movie on this:

It's just countries randomly firing missiles into the ocean until the see a column of black smoke and then firing in that general direction.

What makes this movie truly amazing isn't that it's based on a board game with no plot involved whatsoever, it's that the director gave up DUNE to work on a movie based on a board game with no plot involved whatsoever! :lol=:

Um, gave up DUNE to do a movie being pushed by the studio in exchange for the promise of their support for a movie of his own he really wants to make. According to one story.

Doesn't change the fact that he's a dick and would have fucked up DUNE on the screen almost as bad as KJA has been doing. ;)

well in a way it's good news, the very fact he went for that stupid movie disqualified him to do Dune...

His comments about what he planned to do with DUNE already had that covered.

Life is a series of trade-offs; he was given the choice between fucking up a film or doing a fuck-up film with a film he wants to do guaranteed afterwards. And he chose wisely.

reminds me of that time I was dating that crazy scots girl(I dunno why I just love the scots accent on women; probably because I don't understand what they say after a few drinks)
Anyway we went to the offie to get some booze and stuff...

I picked a bottle of vodka, crisps and some fags.

Her hands were a bit dry so she decided to get some hand cream, and guess what?

Yup she got a tube of vaseline :)

So here I am with this Indian bloke smirking at me buying booze and vaseline, and for some reason I felt like I had to explain that it was for her hands... which probably made it even worse in retrospect...

I'm glad most of us know that fags mean cigarettes because there could be so many jokes there. (Sorry, my mind is dirty today.)

"Picking up fags" didn't suprise me, I was wondering what an "offie" was.

I kinda left that on purpose ;) I wasn't sure it meant cigarettes outside of the uk!

And "offie" is short for "off-licence".

I learned its meaning from a guy who lives near London. I miss talking to him. He taught me quiet a few Britsh words.

 Oui mon cher ami. .... Merci. Now if I could only remember how to speak it properly. Non?

Je t'aime mon amis. But sometimes it's hard enough speaking American English. :P

So is this a US English word or what? :P

And offie, as well as being a shortened form of off-license, is also a shortened form of off-spinner - but then you have to know the game of cricket to know that one, and there's no way I'm going to explain that game to a board of Americans :hand:

Nope that's just another fine example of either my failure to proofread or my ability to see letters where there are none.

Cricket is the one that can go for like six days, right? And the final scores are 227-188?

I can that someone would use something to justify making a movie with big naval battles in it, but I don't understand using the game "Battleship" as the justification for the battle scenes.

Peter Berg is going to end up with the stupidest body of work in the history of cinema.

If you wanted to make a movie about naval warfare, why would you base it on one of the major naval battles? If you want to make a great war movie - you should adapt the board game "Risk." After seeing Inception, I would like to adapt "Jenga."

Seriously, Hasbro must have just laughed their asses off:

"You want to make a movie based on Battleship? And you'll give us a bunch of money? In a tough economy? Um ... okay!"

If you type "nazi" into google, "nazi zombies" is the #1 suggestion.
