Iron Man 2

Post by Omphalos »

I saw this tonight with the wife. I really enjoyed it. Maybe even more than the first. Anyone else see it?

They really did underuse Scarlett Johansen. That was the only real complaint that I had.

I'm not sure why I haven't seen it yet and then I heard that Bill O'Reilly was in it, is that true? Seems like that might ruin the film for me.

Yea, he's in it as himself on a TV in the background, doing his usual dickhead routine. It has nothing to do with the story though, and was probably just the result of a product placement deal.

Enjoyed it ...except for when he created the element.

"It's impossible."

...

"Congratulations sir"

that's hardly even deserves to be called pseudo-science :P

It is impossible to NOT underuse Scarlett Johansen in a movie ...

... this will cheer you up a bit I hope.

Yeah, you've got to go for the top with ol' Scarlet; there's no excuse for passing up an opportunity to gaze upon those bad boys.

Hopefuly, if all goes well, you can take care of the bottom string a bit later.

A fun summer movie not as good as the first one.

Fun fact, the scene after the credits does show a real New Mexico license plate. However, we only are required to have one plate and that is always at the rear of the car.

I'm bored with my "Desert Storm Army Veteran" tag, I was thinking about getting one of these:

Many people don't know that Sons of Confederate Veterans license plates are available and available to everyone. There are no special requirements and you don't have to be an SCV member to have one. Show your support for Southern Heritage and order the SCV plate for your vehicles. A portion of the $25 annual fee goes to the Georgia Division SCV to be used for heritage preservation projects.

Spiff and I took our two younger sons to see Iron Man 2 this past Sunday, May 30th. It was a good action flick.

But I must say, make sure you watch to the very end of the credits.

Yeah, he turned out to be a lot better than I first thought when I heard that he had been chosen to play that role.

Finally saw this last night, thoroughly enjoyed it. Up until now I didn't really think Scarlet was that attractive, but this movie changed my mind a wee bit!
I deleted some of your posts because they were derailing the topic and not focusing on the issues asked, and instead going after the authors or their material. That's why. ~ BM

well, I understand the Thing's preference for "darker" women (I am from the South,
y'know) but you don't have to be no good ol Suthern Boy to appreciate her in Love
Song for Bobby Long
(altho it helps; you also do not have to be a drop-out from the
John Berrymen School of Whiskey & Ink to appreciate Travolta's fucking amazing,
jaw-dropping performance as the title character, a cranky, drunk old fart who happened
to be the English Literature professor at Auburn (before the Whiskey curriculum
overtook the Ink ..)(and also BTW: after much debate, watching the movie many, many
times & giving it some years to "age", I'm now ranking Love Song for Bobby Long
as my #2 Best Film of All Time (behind The Lion in Winter, of course)(1968 Academy
Award Best Picture version, Peter O'Toole & Kate Hepburn, not the BBC one with Captain
Picard)(altho, that version is pretty good too, taken on its own merits - Picard &
Glenn Close put alot more drama & emotion in the lines, which resulted in some
very, very good scenes; but overall, as an adaption of the original play, it was a half-fail,
because of this - the lines in the play are written to be performed quickly, witty
banter - which Hepburn & O'Toole pulled off masterfully ... while the scene-chewing in the
more modern version made for an interesting film in and of itself, it really fucked with
the timing, humor, and tone, intended in the script ...)

Iron Man, tho, yeah ... I finally got to watch this thing the other night - I've been
trying for about 2 months now, but Netflix had the audio all screwed up ...

I was "entertained" - I'll watch Robert Downey Jr read the phone book; I'm not an
SFX big-splosion fan, so the "action" scenes kinda bore me (in fact, I went all the way
downstairs and outside to pee off the back porch right as the last big scene got underway;
when I got back up in the den, they was still a-fightin' ... didn't even bother to roll it
back)

and I guess I missed the meeting where Sam Jackson got named as Nick Fury,
and altho I'm not a Marvel Comic follower (I always liked DC better) I did notice
atleast four very subtle references to other Marvel characters (besides the
Sgt Fury/Avengers things) two of which have already been made into movies since
Iron Man 2 .... both of which I have not seen, and will not until they can deliver them
to my desktop ...

Yeah, likewise. I saw The Soloist a while back, which looked like it was designed to be an Oscar-winning vehicle for Jamie Foxx, with RDJr in a supporting role. RDJr stole pretty much every scene he was in.
