Sounds like good enough reason to wait for satellite or DVD, then. A year and change later and it turns out I was so right to wait and not spend any extra money on this one. Look, I like Washington and Oldman and none of the acting really stank and it was OK while I was watching it... But as soon a...

They have the same effects... but I'm not sure if it means they're the same thing. Either way, I still don't see the Holtzmann field generator as creating gravity (or its equivalent). I wasn't implying that there's any comparison between KJA fuck-ups and FH's omissions. Something in the FTL discussion just reminded me that there's a bit of a hole that FH never explicitly filled... You know, we kind of gloss over this with FH's stuff and assume that because the Holtzmann field stuff is about canceling gravity (in the suspensors, at least) that they can also counteract weightlessness in space, but being able to cancel gravity doesn't necessarily entail that you can create it as...

Wait, were they all "alternate drafts"? Some were passages cut for the serialization, right? Would those qualify as "drafts"? Not trying to be stroppy, just curious and I don't think I have a copy of RtD here... :? (Too many books... I seem to remember picking up a copy of the pa...

The Herbert Family, and Brian Herbert in particular, are literary criminals. There should be laws that would abrogate their inheritance rights and enable their prosecution.

I shat figuratively on Brian Herbert's fuzzy head as I passed over Port Elizabeth and Seattle at around 3:30 AM their local time. We passed too far south of Denver to do the same again later on KJA's.

Even though she (Beverly Herbert ) died in 1984, I am certain that she guided me to meet Kevin J. Anderson in 1997, and that she approved of us as a writing team enough to show us where to find missing notes that were needed to resume the Dune series. there's one I can't find right now, cause I'm kinda toasted, but Keith poo-poos the idea of "other writers" doing Dune stories, because they've got Brian's concordance and Dune is so complex and vast and the less experienced would have trouble keeping facts straight and end up publishing ...

Cool!
(Literally. )
That's the really cool (again) thing about both The Terror and Drood: the RESEARCH Simmons obviously put into them, and how he wove his stories around the historical facts. You know he did more than just take a cruise and ham-fist the ambience into a recorder.

His comments about what he planned to do with DUNE already had that covered.
Life is a series of trade-offs; he was given the choice between fucking up a film or doing a fuck-up film with a film he wants to do guaranteed afterwards. And he chose wisely.

Um, gave up DUNE to do a movie being pushed by the studio in exchange for the promise of their support for a movie of his own he really wants to make. According to one story.
Doesn't change the fact that he's a dick and would have fucked up DUNE on the screen almost as bad as KJA has been doing.

And what I hate about Japanese voice actors ( seiyû ) is that it's so painfully obvious that they all wanted to be REAL actors so BAD ... but were just too cellulite-butt-bump ugly to make it in anything except Elephant Man revivals. So they overcompensate with the voice ACTING. So eve...
